During my PSII semester I had the opportunity to attend a few PD Sessions at the University put on by the Education Undergraduate Society (EUS).
The sessions included topics such as:
In my practicum I was able to attend a professional development day put on by the social studies department around the theme of Rigor, Relevance and Relationships. There were some key ideas that stood out for me from this session, and they all focused on the importance of creating a community in the school. Part of this is the concept is that if the culture isn't there, then you wont see any change. Another idea relating to the community concept is having a simple vision that everyone subscribes to.
During my PS III internship, there were several opportunities for professional development. I was able to participate in learning around diverse areas such as the adolescent brain, grade 6 math and science strategies, and using mindfulness in the classroom.
The sessions included topics such as:
- Networking
- Social Media
- Portfolio development
